To meet the urgent need of saving coral reefs worldwide, CORAL has set an ambitious goal to expand our reach by establishing up to thirteen critical new project sites in the near future. The following is a list of our potential new sites.

Asia-Pacific

Indonesia
Indonesia is the world's largest archipelagic state, located between the Indian and the Pacific Oceans. Building on our existing work in Raja Ampat and Amed, CORAL would like to launch reef-conservation intiatives in additional sites within this unique and diverse nation.

Palau
The Republic of Palau is an island nation consisting of sixteen states located in the Pacific Ocean some 500 miles east of the Philippines.

Philippines
The Philippine Islands are located southeast of China in the Philippine Sea. 

Samoa
Located halfway between New Zealand and Hawaii in the heart of the Pacific Ocean, the volcanic island of Samoa is covered by verdant rain forests and protected by a fringing coral reef.

Solomon Islands
Located east of Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands consists of nearly 1,000 islands in Melanesia.

Southern Thailand/Vietnam
Located in Southeast Asia, Southern Thailand and Vietnam both border the Gulf of Thailand. 

Indian Ocean

Andaman Islands
Part of a territory of India, the Andaman Islands are located on the eastern side of the Bay of Bengal.

Maldives
Consisting of more than 1,000 coral islands that form an archipelago of 26 major atolls, the Maldives are located southwest of Sri Lanka on the equator.

Sri Lanka
Located off the southeastern shore of India, Sri Lanka is an island surrounded by a wide coral reef from north to south.

Zanzibar
Zanzibar is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean off the coast of the East African republic of Tanzania.

U.S./Caribbean/Latin America

Bonaire
A small island located in the southern Caribbean, Bonaire is known for its pioneering role in the preservation of the marine environment.

Mexico
In addition to CORAL's site in Cozumel, we are considering a second main site in Mexico.

Florida Keys/U.S. Virgin Islands
The Virgin Islands are located southeast of the Florida Keys between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean.
