Marine Biology Regional Centre, ZOOLOGICAL SURVEY OF INDIA, CHENNAI
Marine Biology Regional Centre was established on 1st March 1973 during the Fifth Five Year Plan to promote marine faunistic research. The Marine Biological Station enjoys special status in the Zoological Survey of India, with a vast area under its jurisdiction encompassing the Indian Seas on the east and west coasts of the Indian mainland, and the seas around Andaman Nicobar and the Lakshadweep group of islands.
