Reef Resilience Training in Bali, Indonesia: May 2 - 6, 2011

Bali Reef Resilience Training Group PhotoThe first global workshop of CORAL's two-year reef resilience to climate change training and management program drew an impressive group of participants and mentors for a week of intensive instruction in the coral reef community of Amed in Bali, Indonesia. After participants shared overviews of their sites, they attended classroom lectures, practiced underwater monitoring techniques, and worked collaboratively in small groups to develop effective action plans for their regions.

Participants, who hail from ten key coral reef locations, have now returned home equipped with the knowledge, skills, and materials to replicate the training for additional coral reef managers and stakeholders in their own countries. They will also work directly with CORAL to identify microgrant funding opportunities for local conservation projects that will advance the initiative from curriculum to conservation action. Check back for updates on these projects, as well as additional workshops, over the next year.
