Goldentail Moray Eel (Gymnothorax miliaris)

Goldentail Moray Eel (Gymnothorax miliaris) [10] Moray eels tend to hide in dark recesses of the reef during the day, but come out to forage in the open at night. Morays constantly open and close their mouths—though sometimes perceived as a threat, this behavior is merely necessary to move water over their gills for respiration. Morays are not aggressive, but they can inflict a nasty wound if they feel threatened. This rare reverse-color goldentail moray eel was photographed in Cozumel, Mexico.
