The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) of San Francisco has appointed LIZ FOOTE as its Hawaii field representative. She will support CORAL’s efforts to establish sustainable coral reef tourism on Maui and in Kona through education, good environmental business practices and collaborative conservation projects.
In 1999, she founded the Maui-based nonprofit organization Project S.E.A.-Link, and is its executive director.
Before moving to Maui, Foote worked as a whale-watch naturalist in Massachusetts, volunteered at aquariums in Connecticut and California, taught coral reef ecology aboard a schooner in the Virgin Islands, studied orcas in British Columbia and assisted reef researchers in the Florida Keys.
She is a graduate of the University of California at San Diego, in ecology, behavior, and evolution; and earned a master’s degree in science education from Oregon State University.
