Photo Contest Winner Announced Congratulations to Jason Spitz from Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, who is this month's winner of the E-Current Photo Contest. Jason's outstanding image shows two banded coral shrimp sharing the shelter of a barrel sponge in Roatan, Honduras-one of CORAL's project sites. These crustaceans, known as cleaner shrimp, help keep other reef species healthy by removing parasites and injured tissue. Reef Etiquette Sign Installed at Kahekili Beach Park It's been a long time coming! After months of hard work by CORAL staff and local community members, a beautiful and highly-visible new sign was installed near the popular Kahekili Beach Park to educate visitors about coral reefs and how to behave responsibly around them. The sign's dedication ceremony included a traditional Hawaiian Blessing, and community members came together for a celebratory potluck. Read the story » |
