Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines - At least 10 tons of various corals were recovered yesterday from a fisherman's house in sitio Kulo in barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City. Inocencio Mahusay, 63, said he was not involved in harvesting the corals, and that he was paid by a man to bleach them with chlorine and water. Police took custody of the corals and Mahusay pending further investigation.

Mahusay said a certain "Felix" brought over the corals on a pump boat and offered to pay him more than the P200 a day he earns as a fisherman just to clean them. Police suspect the corals came from Bohol province based on Mahusay's account that the word "Bohol" appeared on the boat.

A neighbor had called the police station to report the pile of corals stored outside the fisherman's house, said Insp. Jacinto Mandal.
