Coral Triangle Summit to Seek Clearer Path to Sustainability

The first Coral Triangle Initiative Business Summit, which runs from Jan. 19–20 at the Makati Shangri-La, aims to identify frameworks and best practices, as well as secure a commitment from the private sector to ensure sustainability of resource development and extraction in the area.
"The two main things we can expect are parties will realize the role that they can play in sustaining the ecosystem," Lida Pet-Soede, head of the World Wildlife Fund' (WWF) Coral Triangle program, said yesterday in a phone interview. "The second thing is working with some companies to get ready and pledge on the second day the way they will change their impact [in the area]."
