Eilat's Coral Reefs
Highly illustrated description of the coral reefs in the Gulf of Eilat (Aqaba) northernmost tip of the Red Sea, with emphasis on coral types, environmentally induced morphology of corals and reef forms. Examples of coral reef structures, and a gallery of more than 500 color pictures of reef inhabiting invertebrate and fish species inhabiting perhaps the northernmost tropical coral reefs in the world. The book aims to cope with the problem of coexistence of an underwater high diversity natural habitat and an ever increasing human population in close proximity. The author, a local marine biologist for 50 years tries to predict how will the future affect this natural gem, and recommends the measures that should be taken to preserve the endangered bio-diverse reefs.
