International Wildlife Coalition - Brazil
IWC/BRASIL is a nonprofit conservation institution based in Southern Brazil which concentrates its efforts in marine conservation, in particular the establishment and proper implementation of marine protected areas and endangered species recovery. IWC/BRASIL staff has been actively involved in proposing and defending against threats several marine protected areas in Brazil, including Abrolhos and Fernando de Noronha National Marine Parks, two major coral reef areas. More recently, IWC/BRASIL staff participated in the technical reports which led to the declaration of the Fernando de Noronha/Rocas Atoll island complex as a World Heritage Site. A parallel effort is current under way to promote recreational diversÔinterest in marine conservation.
