In its ongoing efforts to monitor and protect Haiti_s marine environment, FoProBiM has worked with coastal area inhabitants including farmers, fishers (fishermen and fisherwomen) and those making use of coastal and marine environments through a wide variety of sectors such as tourism, transportation, marketing, processing, etc. FoProBiM has worked with coastal community groups throughout Haiti with a special emphasis on those along the Arcadins Coastal Region (target area for this project) for more than 12 years, and has successfully completed projects for and gained the support of a wide range of organizations including among others: USAID, UNESCO/CSI, UNESCO/PP, the Japanese Mission to Haiti, UNDP, NFWF, Ministry of Environment of Haiti, IDB, and NOAA, and is the National Representative/Focal Point in Haiti for: Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network (GCRMN), Caribbean Coastal Marine Program (CARICOMP), ReefCheck, Caribbean Association for Biodiversity Information (CABI), Caribbean Fisheries Specialist Group (CFSG), the Ocean Conservancy (OC), and the International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN).
