Seychelles Centre for Marine Research & Technology
SCRMT is the first institution created for the advancement of marine research in the Seychelles. It's role is to focus on all aspects of marine research including the application of technology for sustainable use. SCMRT is governed by a Board of Directors, with day to day affairs managed by a Managing Director. , , It was recently merged with the Marine Parks Authority. It is a young institute with funding support from Government and grants for external bodies. It was set up as a result of the sucessful Shoals of Capricorn Programme organised through the Royal Geographical Society., , SCMRT is seeking both short-term and long-term partnerships with external institutions and univeristies, interested in doing research in the Seychelles and the Indian Ocean. We have on site accomodation facilities at very attractive rates, which includes access to laboratory. We also have diving and boat facilities. We also have a meet and greet facility, and assist in the clearance of equipment and other items through customs. For large projects we also offer logistical planning and support.
