Centro de Investigaciones Marinas
The Centro de Investigaciones Marinas was founded in 1970. It belongs to the University of Havana and is responsible for building human capacities in the marine sector in Cuba. It offers undergraduate and graduate courses on several marine-related disciplines. It also offers Msc and PhD degrees. The center has been one of the leading institutions in Cuba in marine sciences. Its staff is formed by 28 profesionals (12 PhD and 13 MSc). The center also has experimental areas, classrooms, teaching labs, preserved colections of algae, invertebrates and fish, SCUBA diving facilities and a research vessel,
