Description: 

The Statia Marine Park surrounds the island of St. Eustatius from the high water mark to 30 meters in depth. Two Reserves inside the Marine Park function to replenish the fish population, and moorings are installed to prevent anchorage on coral. The Marine Park has been actively managed since 1998. Legislation for the Marine Park passed in 1996., , Management has law enforcement authority in order to see that Park regulations are adhered to., , STENAPA also manages The Quill National Park, the first to be designated a National Park in the Netherlands Antilles, along with a botanical garden. , , STENAPA's only source of steady income derives from dive fees, yacht fees, and trail fees. Marine Park personnel installed and maintains over 30 moorings. All other funding is gained through grants, donations, fund raising programs, and souvenir sales. STENAPA has two paid employees, the manager and assistant manager. A world-wide volunteer program largely contributes to the success of the Foundation.
