Since 1996 MAMMA has been involved in supporting the marine research and conservation of annimals and habitats of the Dominican Republic. We promoted the creation of the first humpback whales sanctuary in the Atlantic (1996) at Silver Banks. Later were involved in the creation of 3 marine protected areas: La Caleta, Parque Nacional del Este and Parque Nacional Montecristi.
