Description:

Dolphin Research Center is a not-for-profit education and research facility that sustains a colony of Atlantic bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions. Our animals live in a natural environment of mangroves and sea grasses in Florida Bay of the Gulf of Mexico. DRC's goal is to promote peaceful coexistence, cooperation and communication between marine mammals and humans through research and education. We stress in every program that the health of dolphins and us depends on the health of the marine environment. Conservation of the marine environment is our strongest message and is addressed in every outreach we conduct. We encourage responsible ecotourism, especially while visiting the Florida Keys reef system. We teach the students of our DolphinLab programs (our week-long, college-accredited classes offered to kids and adults) about biology, ecology, and conservation of reefs and take them snorkelling in the 3rd largest barrier reef system.
