Coral Reef SymposiumCORAL is pleased to invite you to meet our Director of Conservation Programs, Rick MacPherson, at the 11th International Coral Reef Symposium in Fort Lauderdale, FL, July 7–11. The symposium brings together government agencies, resource managers, and non-governmental organizations from around the world every four years to share the latest knowledge about coral reef science, management, and conservation. At this year’s conference, Rick will give presentations on two aspects of CORAL’s work: “The Involvement of the Private Sector in Marine Protected Area (MPA) Planning, Management, and Conservation: Case Studies from the Indo-Pacific” (oral presentation) and “Voluntary Standards as a Tool for Increasing the Sustainability of the Marine Recreation Industry and Improving MPA Effectiveness in Hawaii and Mesoamerica” (poster session). With more than 2,500 participants expected, the symposium is a unique opportunity to learn about a wide range of topics from scientific research to effective management and conservation strategies for coral reef ecosystems.
