Julie Bennett (Roatan, Honduras) |
For the first time in CORAL’s history, we have appointed a communications professional dedicated to expanding public awareness of and support for CORAL programs and the plight of coral reefs. The communications manager position was created to help facilitate the dynamic growth mandated by CORAL’s five-year strategic plan.
Our new communications manager, Julie Bennett, is responsible for leveraging communications opportunities generated by CORAL’s increased visibility and expanding program work. Coming to us with a background in corporate event planning, writing, and editing, Julie first started working with CORAL as a volunteer, producing our beautiful year-end publication, Coral Reefs Forever. Through the process of researching and writing the publication, Julie discovered a deep commitment to CORAL’s mission and subsequently resigned her position of ten years as senior editor at a major independent book publisher to join the CORAL external relations department full time. An avid diver and a passionate writer and editor, Julie is a welcome addition to CORAL’s San Francisco staff.
